19th Century French Red Painted Zinc Striding Lion
19th century zinc lion with the original red paint. The lion shown walking, his front paw bending as he lifts it to stride forward. This naturalistic rendition of a lion in motion was executed by a true and talented sculptor. Similar to the famous lion by Antoine-Louis Barye, this take on the subject is fresh and more singular since it hasn't been reproduced ad infinitum. French late 19th century. The warm red color has a wonderful patina of age, this lion has personality. A great addition to any interior. Circa 1890.

A small break to the rear of the integral plinth cannot be seen from the front and does not compromise the integrity of the base.
