Francois Decorchemont Purple and Clear Glass Pate de Verre Bowl

$2,950.00

Call For Location | 203-325-8070

4.5" h x 7.5" diameter

A purple and clear glass pâte de verre footed bowl with impressed mark "Decorchemont". Francois Decorchemont studied at The National School of Decorative Arts in Paris. The pâte de verre technique was in its infancy as a technic around the turn of the 20th century. It was during this period that Decorchemont established himself as a master glass maker. Pate de Verre is produced by grinding glass into a fine powder, adding a binder to create a paste, and adding a fluxing medium to facilitate melting. The paste is brushed or tamped into a mold, dried, and fused by firing. After annealing, the object is removed from the mold and finished.  Ready to place with out chips.    Circa 1920.
