Neolithic flint axe head, Great Britain, 4400-2200 BC. This is a fine example of the Neolithic art of flaking, or 'flint knapping', perfected by the artisan tool makers of that time. These axe heads were incredibly sturdy and still retain a sharp edge even after thousands of years. A wonderful piece of history and a unique piece of sculpture.
