Elegant pair of bronze hands of the Buddha displaying two ritual gestures, the Abhaya mudra, which represents protection, peace, benevolence, and the dispelling of fear from the mind, replacing it with inner peace. And the Vitarka mudra, symbolizing teaching and discussion. It shows the transmission of knowledge and insight, gained after reaching enlightenment.

The slender fingers and graceful gestures make this a particularly attractive pair. Custom mounted. Thailand, late 19th century.
