19th Century Venetian Octagonal Cut and Etched Glass Mirror

19th century Venetian cut glass mirror with etched floral decoration. The outer and inner moldings with piecrust borders and mini convex circles all joined by individual florets and geometric lozenges. Topped by an elaborate crest of arabesques and floral motifs surrounding an oval centerpiece, all with beveled edges.  Circa 1850.

This is a very fine antique example of this Venetian type. I've seen many of these over the years, this one, because of it's age and quality, stands out. The glass is thicker on these earlier ones and the quality of the etching deeper and more singular. Because of the age the silvering has a welcomed degradation that only adds to the character and presence of this exquisite piece.
