Jean Besnard (1889–1958). Table lamp. France, 1925. Glazed earthenware, brass. Now with Navy shade. Glazed signature and date to underside reading 'Jean Besnard 1925'. The lamp features a large ovoid turquoise-glazed earthenware body mounted on a brass base, topped with a plain white drum shade. The turquoise glaze exhibits subtle tonal variation across the surface of the vessel.
