Nicholas Savard
Pair of "Sonate" Floor Lamps by HUBERT LE GALL (b.1961)
A sinuous conversation in gold — two sculptural floor lamps whose looping, coiled forms evoke the flowing arcs of a musical score. Fashioned from gilt metal, each lamp unspools from floor to ceiling in graceful spirals, transforming functional light into living sculpture. Signed and numbered by the artist.

ABOUT THE ARTIST & WORK
"I like objects that tell stories, that have humor, that make you smile — but also objects of great technical precision."
Hubert Le Gall is one of France's most celebrated designer-artists, known for furniture and lighting that occupies the rare space between functional object and fine art. Born in 1961, Le Gall studied at the École Boulle in Paris before establishing a practice grounded in surrealist wit, craft mastery, and a distinctly French sensibility for the poetic object.
The Sonate lamp is among his most recognized works — its name a nod to classical musical form, its body an abstract score rendered in three dimensions. The looping gilt-metal rings rise like a crescendo, catching and scattering light with each curve. To own a pair is to possess two instruments in a permanent duet, a visual symphony for any interior.
