American Giltwood Framed Mirror with Eglomise Panel Painting Titled "Perry's Victory"

American giltwood framed mirror with unusual original eglomise panel painting titled "Perry's Victory", depicting Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry's important War of 1812 victory at the Battle of Lake Erie, September 10, 1813.  In one of the largest naval battles of the War of 1812, Perry led 9 US Navy vessels to victory over 6 British Royal Navy vessels, which allowed the US to control the lake for the remainder of the war and to recover Detroit.  In a famous dispatch to Major General William Henry Harrison after the Battle of Lake Erie, Perry wrote : "We have met the enemy and they are ours.  Two ships, two brigs, one schooner and one sloop."
