12 Botanical Photogravures by Karl Blossfeldt, Berlin, 1932

$7,140.00

Call For Location | 203-325-8070

Karl Blossfeldt Photogravures Wundergarten der Natur, 1932.

Hung together, these make a very impressive and modern wall display. Available in smaller groups or individually at $595 each. More are available. Framed: 17.25 inches high by 14.5 inches wide.

Blossfeldt was a well-known artist, teacher, sculptor and photographer; best known for his closeup photographs of plant life. Blossfeldt believed that 'The plant must be valued as a totally artistic and architectural structure.' Modern and organically beautiful, his photographs of plants, flowers and seed heads are as appealing today as they were when they were first introduced to the public in his first landmark book, "Urformen der Kunst", (Art Forms in Nature), 1929. Followed by "Wundergarten der Natur", 1932.

It was his firm belief that only through the close study of the intrinsic beauty present in natural forms that contemporary art would find its true direction.
