American Small One Drawer Tiger Maple Stand

$885.00

Call For Location | 203-325-8070

A small American, one-drawer stand with a top made from a solid single board of birds-eye Tiger Maple standing on turned legs of solid cherry.  The original Sandwich glass pull knob is on the single drawer.  The remainder of the wood on this one-drawer stand is solid cherry.

It is rare to find a one-drawer stand made after 1860 using a solid single board of bird-eye maple for the top board and a solid single tiger maple  board for the drawer front, each 3/4 inch thick.  After 1860, furniture makers then, and to this day, normally take a single board of birds-eye maple or tiger maple and slice it into over 40 veneers.  Instead of making one piece of furniture, they make over 40 pieces of furniture.  Cherry was, and still is, relatively inexpensive and plentiful, while bird-eye maple and tiber maple still are very expensive and difficult to find.

Circa:  1810-1850.   19 L x 18.5 x 26 H
