Redmile burst into the London interior design scene in the 1960s, producing some of the most eclectic items for his illustrious clients. The materials he used in his objects and furniture were inspired by the natural world. House & Garden Britain once described him as “without doubt the most original, prolific and fantastical designer in Britain.” Born in England in 1940, the Post-War and Contemporary designer is best known for his extravagant furniture design, fine art objects, and interior design work. His objets d’art include boxes adorned in malachite, silver and bone, mirrors framed with horns, and animal forms trimmed with agate and seashells. Redmile’s celebrity client list was comprised of Rod Stewart, Jacqueline Onassis, Erté and members of the British royal family, among others. Anthony Redmile was one of the leading designers in art objects of the mid-20th century, his pieces soon became sought after by many collectors and remain so half a century later.
