Barovier & Toso suspension lantern, Iridescent crystal, brass rod and canopy
Iridescent glass lantern by Barovier & Toso circa 1930's. Having brass hardware with Iridati glass. The iridati technique, notably utilized by Ercole Barovier & Carlo Scarpa for Venini in the 1930s, is a Venetian glass method creating a delicate, iridescent glow and uneven, corroded texture. It involves treating the glass surface with acidic materials to produce a textured effect, often applied to brightly colored or soft-toned art glass pieces, including bowls, vases and lanterns
