A portrait bust in relief of a French luminary or nobleman in copper repousse with a rich black patina. Mounted in the original oak frame. Signed and dated 'Blanc 1849'. Armand Blanc was a sculptor born in Dijon; died c. 1860. A pupil of David d'Angers and Rude, Blanc is best known for several statues for the decoration of the Louvre: Flute Player; Hunter and Agriculture.
