Nicholas Savard

Handsome Danish Curved Sofa by Bramin, Denmark

$9,800.00

Call For Location | 203-325-8070

Produced by Bramin — the esteemed Danish furniture house founded in Børkop in 1936 and celebrated throughout the mid-century for its commitment to fine craftsmanship and warm, humanist design — this curved settee captures the spirit of Danish modernism at its most inviting. Where much Scandinavian furniture of the period pursued cool linearity, Bramin frequently embraced the organic curve, and this piece is a particularly handsome example of that sensibility.

The silhouette is distinctly generous: a continuous sweeping arc carries from armrest to armrest, giving the sofa an enveloping, almost embracing quality. The button-tufted back — set in a single horizontal row — anchors the ivory upholstery with precision, while the looped walnut armrests introduce a note of warmth and craftsmanship that elevates the piece beyond mere comfort into considered object. The overall proportions are compact and refined, making the settee as well-suited to an entry hall or study as to a formal sitting room.

The cream upholstery presents well and the walnut frame retains its original warm tone throughout. A rare and characterful example of postwar Danish domestic design.
