“Seascape” – 1894

Signed and dated J.U.B 94 lower left

Located and dated on a tag on the back of the frame

Oil on canvas – Excellent condition

10 ⅜  x 16 ⅛ in (26,5 x 41 cm)

17 ¼  x 22 ⅞ in   framed   (44 x 58 cm)

Original Danish style gilded frame

In this work, one can appreciate Bredsdorff's technical skills in the depiction of the Northern sky, the challenging sea and wild beach. The total lack of artificial ornamentation clearly shows the intention of this sea lover to concentrate on the rendering of the water getting roughed by strong winds.

With the help of his talent, Bredsdorff managed successfully the difficult exercise of creating a naturalistic contrast between the three imposing masses of air, water and sand equally represented in this painting.
