A blue and gilt enameled ladies Necessaire with hinged top, fitted interior having 2 scent bottles, applicator, scissors, button hook, needle and cuticle tool. Case decorated overall with gilt landscape scenes and having Rococo gilt metal mounts. There are two other know examples, one in the English Royal Collection and the other in the Musee du Louvre.

Rectangular blue glass étui, painted in gilt on all sides with chinoiserie scenes of pagodas on islands and figures in boats. Heavy moulded and chased gilt metal edge and rim mounts in form of c-scrolls and rocaille. Gilt metal interior fittings with implements including two small glass scent bottles, scissors, crochet hook and pencil. There is a similar étui, though of better quality, in the collection of the Musée du Louvre, Paris (no.496, Les tabatières du musée du Louvre, Paris 1981).
