Beautiful Louis XV “Rocaille” style gilded frame.
Berga, a landscape painter, followed the French Artistic movement of “open-air painting” made famous by the Barbizon School.
From1864, he sent numerous views from countries all around the Mediterranean Sea to the Art Exhibitions of Madrid.
Berga was particularly inspired by Jules Dupré, a Barbizon school leader, in his ability of depicting panoramic views with striking contrasting lights on a restricted space without loosing of their grandeur.
