A lovely pair of copper engravings with hand coloring from the series know as: "Portraits of Race Horses with their Pedigrees, Achievements, etc., 1740-1753" by Spencer, Thomas (1700-1763) and others, London: T. Butler and John Cheny. The central portrait of each engraving depicting the distinguished racing horse, 'Squirrel' and 'Lamprie', surrounded by text panels describing lineage and record. Circa 1741 & 1746. Both beautifully matted with faux marbled borders and framed in walnut with bronze corner mounts. Utterly charming.
