However Thomas broke his ties from the teachings of his master to follow the principles of the Impressionists. He left us poetic landscapes from the area around Limoges and Crozant. Thomas joined the "Ecole de Crozant" along side its leading figure Guillaumin who encouraged him to focus on painting. Thomas most successful paintings were those from the banks of the river Seine in Paris. Unfortunately, few of them were made due to the premature death of the artist at age 41.
