Born in 1944 in Framingham, Massachusetts, he began carving in 1965. He specializes in carving decorative birds of all kinds as well as whales, fish, animals and other folk art subjects. His carvings are made out of pine, cedar or bass wood and painted with oil paint, milk paint or (rarely) acrylics. Roger has competed in national and world championships, winning many awards, and has been featured in magazines and catalogs, including The Country Loft; Americana Magazine; Davy Magazine; Hunting, Fishing and Collectibles Magazine; and others. He has exhibited throughout Massachusetts and has his home and shop in Kingston, Massachusetts.
